  2. After everyone, whose record collection I looked through, had a copy of Focus 3. Years later, when Punk/New Wave was all the rage lots of my friends became a bit apologetic about having this album in their collection, I always told them to hang on to it; it will be cool again/5(87).

Focus were a great band with a great guitarist in Jann Ackerman and this album proves their value as this 2 LP on 1 CD is their best.. I was very disappointed when I got the CD version that House of the King had been left off /5(82).

  5. There are two versions of "Hocus Pocus" the single which made it into the top 10 on the singles charts back in the 70's. Most of the band's other best known stuff is here too including "Sylvia", "House Of The King", "Harem Scarem" and "Focus III". The album is all instrumental with the exception of a few yodels and yelps from Thjis Van Leer/5().

  6. May 07,  · But it's Focus III and AQQA lumped together as one track. Tracks #1, 2, 3, 7 and 8 play as listed. Also -- The date of release on any of the U.S. Focus CDs on the IRS label would not be any earlier than as borne out by releases with surrounding catalog numbers/5().

  8. This double cd is actually Hocus Pocus best of plus volume 2 of their best work. Both discs feature their shorter compositions, as Focus were noted for their long improvised pieces such as Eruption and Anonymous 2. I'd forgotten just how staggeringly good Jan Akkerman was at his peak, some of his solos fill me with adrenaline like few players can do/5(6).
